What is Peace? Is it realistic to expect peace in this world? Phillip Jensen and Kel Richards begin the discussion by unpacking the meeting of the Hebrew word 'shalom' translated as peace in modern English Bibles. Jensen says our understanding of the word 'peace', as cessation of fighting or of an emotional state does not go far enough, in the Bible 'peace' means prosperity and wellbeing. Biblical peace is not just absence of war but presence of friendship. Jensen says the way to have peace with others is first to have peace with God, then you will have peace with yourself and others. Peace with God is the foundation of any peace in the world, and this is only possible through God sending his son to atone for all of the wrong we have done.
