Rod Earnshaw is the Senior Minister of Holy Trinity Gateshead, UK and has spent the last few months studying the topic of prayer for a set of conference talks.
Here are 5 top books on prayer:
1 Prayer and the Voice of God by Phillip Jensen and Tony Payne. A great introduction to the topic with clear biblical teaching.
2 A Simple way to Pray by Martin Luther: Luther gives a simple model for a renewed prayer life that reflects the apostles’ pattern of being set apart for prayer and the ministry of the word.
3 Do you Pray? by JC Ryle. Ryle is always immensely motivating and this is an impassioned call to live out our faith in constant prayer. It’s practical and deeply encouraging.
4 Prayer by Tim Keller. A more wide ranging study in classic Keller style. Mixes sustained reflection on the topic with very practical and helpful suggestions.
And 5 A Call to Spiritual Reformation by Don Carson. Another classic, both theological and practical - Carson calls us to go back to the Bible to learn how to pray by following the prayers of scripture.
