The progressives have their ideas, though Paul would dismiss them as deception. While they may have a form of external godliness, they contain none of the life-changing power. Paul argues first for a commitment to him and his teaching and second, a determination to remain in the central truth to which the whole Bible points—the saving faith in Jesus. Finally, knowing the Scriptures which are sufficient for the task of gospel work.
