Persecution Prayer News: Indonesia - Naomi

Naomi is a pastor’s wife from Indonesia, a country with rising Islamic fundamentalism and religious intolerance. Besides some violent attacks on churches, Christians there face discrimination and verbal abuse. As many Indonesian Christians struggle with poverty, Open Doors runs projects to help improve their economic situation. Since March 2018, Naomi has also been learning tailoring at the Women’s Training Centre built by Open Doors. "I have now made eight items of clothing. I even made wedding outfits for my child. It felt good and I’m so proud. Every Sunday, I show my work to my church members. They too become willing to learn as I do. After I have passed this new skill, I will teach them, because some of them have already asked for it."

With bold beginnings in 1955 when 'Brother Andrew' smuggled Bibles into Eastern Europe for the first time, Open Doors exists today to strengthen the church in the most hostile places around the world. In over 50 countries their underground networks supply Bibles, train church leaders, deliver Bible-based literacy programmes and support Christians who suffer for their faith. One of their main goals is to raise awareness of global persecution and to mobilise Christians to pray, support and act.
