Persecution Prayer News: Iran - Mojtaba's Story
As a young Muslim man, Mojtaba served in the Iraq-Iran war and then spent 15 years searching for peace and for God. It was when he reached a point of feeling bitter, hopeless and tired of life that he encountered Jesus. Mojtaba found a way to study theology abroad for three months and returned to Iran to serve as a pastor in the underground church. But one day, he was arrested, imprisoned and interrogated about his beliefs. After his release, Mojtaba fled to Turkey, where he is now involved in giving counselling to fellow Persian-speaking believers.

With bold beginnings in 1955 when 'Brother Andrew' smuggled Bibles into Eastern Europe for the first time, Open Doors exists today to strengthen the church in the most hostile places around the world. In over 50 countries their underground networks supply Bibles, train church leaders, deliver Bible-based literacy programmes and support Christians who suffer for their faith. One of their main goals is to raise awareness of global persecution and to mobilise Christians to pray, support and act.
