John 12: 20-26 - Dying and Living With Jesus - Jesmond Parish, Newcastle Sermon
7 Apr '19 Jonathan Pryke - It's two weeks until Good Friday in the narrative of John's gospel and some Greeks want to see Jesus to find out what all the fuss is about. Jesus then teaches that we can see him most clearly as we see him glorify God by dying on the cross. In the cross we see God's utter control over events on this earth, that Jesus is supremely powerful, that the cross opens up the way to forgiveness for all believers, it leads to Jesus' resurrection power and it brings life to the millions who believe in him. Then Jesus goes on to tell us what this life will look like: we lay down our lives to receive it, it's a life eternal, a life of serving Jesus, a life of following Jesus, a life of being with Jesus and a life of receiving honour from God. What will our response be then, as we look at Jesus?
