The Bible Project: Nahum Overview
The book of Nahum is a collection of poems announcing the downfall of the kingdom of Assyria and its capital city Nineveh. Assyria was one of Israel's greatest enemies and was instrumental in the destruction of the northern kingdom and also the exile. However this is not just an angry rant: the author sees the downfall of Nineveh as an example of how God is at work in every age and how he will not allow the arrogant and violent empires of our world to endure forever.
