Engaging with Islam Course 9: The Bible & Qur'an

In this session Scott Huss and Samuel Green discuss the respective texts from where, Christians and Muslims learn about God. Although the attitude Muslims have to the Bible can vary, generally Muslims are taught to reject the Bible and that the Bible has been corrupted. However, the Qur’an claims that it confirms the teaching of the Bible and that Muhammad is foretold in the Bible, and therefore it instructs Muslims to accept the Bible along with the Qur’an. However, this creates a problem for Muslims because the Qur’an does not confirm the Bible nor is Muhammad foretold in it. To explain this discrepancy Muslims are told of Christians changing the Bible, and that if the Bible had not been changed then the Qur’an would confirm it and it would predict the coming of Muhammad.
