Keswick '09 - Dale Ralph Davis 1: The Heart That Strays
1 Kings 11 - The Challenge of Living in a Fallen World - The main talks from The Keswick Convention 2009.First Kings knows all about ‘living in a fallen world’ since it traces a kingdom that is falling apart. Easy to think that we meet that ‘fallen-ness’ mainly in deviant religious systems and oppressive political regimes. Better to take it on the chin and recognise that it begins in the human heart (1 Kings 11 and 13). However such evil may reach such proportions that it almost seems like anti-Christ has arrived ahead of schedule (1 Kings 16:29- 17:16) especially when Yahweh-haters have unimpeded freedom to grind the faces of his people into the dirt (1 Kings 21). Indeed, when life’s shocks shatter us, we may even be tempted to think that there may be something ‘fallen’ about God’s own ways (1 Kings 17: 17-24).
Length: 49mins
