Ask Phillip - Isn't Jesus' Punishment in our Place Unjust?

Why is God just to punish Jesus for our sins? God does not act because things are just, nor are things just because he acts, but rather his very nature is justice and by this we understand what justice is, explains Phillip Jensen. Therefor it is hard to challenge God on his justice. He explains that a human judge paying the punishment for a criminal is not unjust if they choose to do so, and then explains that in Jesus' death, God was not unfairly punishing an innocent third party, because Jesus is God and willingly gave himself up to pay the punishment.
