EMA '13: Vaughan Roberts - The True Grace of God (1)
We have massive freedom for the gospel in this country but the temperature is rising against this. In response Christians are tempted to give in, withdraw or get angry, but what would it look like to remain faithful in an alien world? Vaughan Roberts opens up 1 Peter 1:1-12, who's readers were in a similar position to Christians in the secular West today, to encourage Christians and church leaders to stand firm in the true grace of God. Roberts says this first section of Peter is concerned with laying the foundations for faithful living: 1. A clear understanding of identity, 2. A firm hold on our hope, 3. A robust theology of suffering and 4. A great delight in our privileges.

The Evangelical Ministry Assembly (EMA) is the Proclamation Trust's (PT) flagship gathering of over 1000 Bible preachers and teachers. It is for all those with responsibility for teaching and preaching the word of God in the local church. The PT recognises that such ministry is sometimes counter-cultural, can often be lonely and is always hard work. The EMA therefore is planned to both challenge and encourage preachers in the task to which Christ has called them and provide a place to meet others involved in the same ministry so that they can spur one another on.
The main aim of the Proclamation Trust is to teach the Bible to preachers in order that they can in turn teach it to others, as well as to provide a fellowship of like-minded evangelicals across the denominations for encouragement in this work. For more information see: www.proctrust.org.uk.
