Gary Burge of Wheaton College, Illinois, outlines the factors that have contributed to the current reality in Israel. In part 1 of his interview with Simon Smart he says that one major reason for the conflict is the sense of insecurity felt by the Israelis resulting from years of persecution and the sense of dislocation felt by the Palestinians as they are moved from their deep roots and ancient history.
