What can I see on Clayton TV?

A variety of different series is already available on Clayton TV. 'The Sunday Service', is a weekly programme which is an edited version of the Sunday evening service from Jesmond Parish Church (see www.church.org.uk). The first in our documentaries series is a Clayton Media programme called 'Cloning Humans'. This is a half hour documentary about the highly controversial research of stem cells and cloning. Debating the issue are key scientists, ethicists and politicians from the UK and US. You can also see two series from Australia: The Chat Room, in which well-known author and broadcaster Kel Richards discusses current issues with Phillip Jensen, the Dean of St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney (see www.thechatroom.tv); and Cathedral Bible Study, also with Phillip Jensen (see www.cathedral.sydney.anglican.asn.au). New programmes will added each week, and the latest additions can be seen on the 'New Programmes' tab. A range of other programmes and series is also being added to our schedule and video library.

Introducing Clayton Media

Clayton Media is a television production unit, forming a new ministry of The Jesmond Trust (a registered charity). We aim to produce programmes viewed nationally and internationally which fulfil the key purposes of Jesmond Parish Church in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK -

  • Godly Living: Bible based TV resources to train and encourage Christians.
  • Church Growth: Evangelistic material to persuade non-believers of the gospel.
  • Changing Britain: Programmes on ethics and social issues that will influence popular opinion and government policy.

Clayton Media's long term aims are:

  • To build a large network of British and international viewers, Christian and non-Christian, regularly watching programmes with Christian content or worldview.
  • To influence public policy through the political clout of programmes with high viewing figures that persuasively advocate Christian ethics.
  • To provide a training centre for television production and so build a sizeable unit in the North East of England exporting trained Christians into the secular media.
  • To provide media resources for churches and mission organisations encouraging them to be involved in television media.
  • To change popular culture in the UK by growing a production unit large enough to secure commissions from the national channels.
